I began my journey of becoming a therapist after interning with an organization serving refugees in St. Louis. I pointed out to my supervisor (a clinical social worker) that the little girl I was working with seemed to be "blanking out" when I was tutoring her. The social worker educated me on what I now understand is dissociation as a result of trauma, and I realized "I want to know how to help that little girl." At the time I didn't feel brave enough to pursue that goal. However, I started practices that created a lot of healing for me and began to trust that my dream was worth pursuing. I also became confident I could handle it if it didn't work out. About a year later, in 2012, I began my multi-year journey of pursuing my Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Oklahoma and earned my clinical licensure (Oklahoma LCSW #6225) in 2017.
I've had the gift of guiding many people to experience change and transformation in the therapeutic space; and I can honestly say that working as a therapist has been one of the greatest joys of my life. When I'm sitting across from someone, listening to their story, I never have the chance to stagnate. I have to listen, learn, and grow for their sake. I've seen this effort and passion build trust with clients, so they have the safety, vision, and hope they need to pursue the healing journey I want to join them on.
I'm currently on a break from working as a therapist as I start a new job with Restore OKC, a community development organization focused on the restoration of health, environment, reconciliation, and equity with neighbors in Northeast Oklahoma City. While I love being a therapist, I am also passionate about relationship based, community-driven redevelopment in marginalized communities.
I anticipate that I'll resume therapeutic work, but am unsure of that timeline. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to growing in my new position and coming back to therapy with renewed energy, passion and skills to assist more clients.

I love nature, hiking, cycling, (or really any kind of movement) good coffee, good food and good books. And of course all of these things are better with friends and family to share them with!
I've personally experienced a lot of growth through reading all kinds of books. Click below to read through some of my recommendations
